Children will learn a different spelling pattern or rule every week. They will practice this in school but it would also be very beneficial for the children to practice at home as well. We will test the children on 5 words which contain the spelling pattern or rule every Friday. However, from week to week we will also test on the previous 3 weeks spellings so that the test will actually be 20 words consisting of 5 new words and 15 words from the previous 3 weeks. We have found that this really helps the children retain the spellings in their memory.
