RE Adults note: Christians celebrate Jesus ‘saving’ people through his death and resurrection at Easter. In these next RE lessons, we will be looking at the imagery and vocabulary around ‘saving’ / ‘rescuing’ to help children begin to understand the beliefs Christians hold. Read/watch the story. And find out how the goats escape the troll and reach the grass. Re-enact the story using your own bridge. Why did the ‘Billy Goats’ need the bridge? How did the bridge save them from starving? Who tried to stop them crossing? How would they have crossed without the bridge? Find some pictures of bridges and use them to establish different reasons / situations when a bridge might be needed / useful. Think of bridges near your house and why it is needed. How could a bridge save someone? Do you think a person could be a bridge? How?
